About Us

Our Vision:

Autism Support Community believes in a world where all individuals and their families are included, supported, and embraced by their community. ASC views these as civil rights that include the ability to live, work, and play in their neighborhood in a meaningful and self-determined way.

Our Mission:

Autism Support Community (ASC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that is promoting increased circle of support for Autistic people and their families by connecting people, ideas, services, and
resources. We will do this through virtual support groups, clubs, website/social media
information, resource list, Person Centered Planning, and Self-Determination Program Independent Facilitation Services.

Our History:

Autism Support Community was founded in 2009 by a group of parents and professionals who felt strongly about the civil rights of people with developmental disabilities. We saw a need as we witnessed disparity in services, isolation from peers, and performative inclusion with no real intent. As parents, we experienced the challenges of losing our circle of support when friends and family did not always understand. The definition of community is “a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing
common attitudes, interests, and goals”. The founders of ASC believe that we could create and share a
genuine community environment.
