WHO WE ARE Autism Support Community is non-profit organization to create a community to support parents and self-advocates on the spectrum. We are organized by families that live in the Los Angeles area who have attended local schools and are part of the regional center. After talking with many other parents, we realized that although there is an abundance of general information on Autism on the internet, there was a lack of specific local information. Many families felt they were “reinventing” the wheel and were isolated as they navigated the local school district and regional center systems. Often the best advice comes from others who have experienced how the system works. Many times sitting in waiting rooms creates friendships and establishes a sense of community. But what about working parents and parents of newly diagnosed kids? ASC is an online “waiting room” for parents to have a forum to share information. FAMILIES SUPPORTING FAMILIES

AAC Alternative Augmentative Communication Comunicación Aumentativa Alternativa AAC means all of the ways that someone communicates besides talking. People of all ages can use AAC if they have trouble with speech or language skills. Augmentative means to add to someone’s speech. Alternative means to be used instead of speech. Some people use AAC throughout their life.
